Culture is heritage – and more. It is how societies express themselves, understand one another, and imagine the future.

For the Mediterranean Platform, artistic and cultural initiatives form an integral part of our mission to challenge perceptions and enable collaborations across the Wider Mediterranean and Africa. We aspire to create a shared space where artists, cultural practitioners, institutions and communities can exchange ideas and build lasting collaborations. By connecting culture with research, dialogue and education, we seek to amplify diverse voices and contribute to more inclusive societies with a stronger sense of a shared future.

Our approach

We seek initiatives that:

• are rooted in the cultures, histories and realities of the Wider Mediterranean and Africa;
• connect people and communities across borders, generations and disciplines;
• strengthen the visibility and capacity of artists and cultural organisations;
• use artistic expression as a means of dialogue, reflection and mutual understanding;
• engage with contemporary regional challenges, particularly those affecting younger generations.

Through culture and the arts, we aim to create spaces for exchange, encourage new forms of collaboration and contribute to a stronger sense of connection across the Wider Mediterranean and Africa.
